Detroit Police officers, along with representatives from Detroit Public Schools, organized and hosted the pre-Christmas fun, luncheon and gift give-a-way at LGC’s Detroit headquarters. Roughly 50 children and their parents enjoyed pizza and a variety of international homemade foods, desserts and fresh fruits. It was one of many community functions sponsored by the DPSCD Police Department and local partners to help less-fortunate families.
Many of the police officers dressed in festive holiday attire, including Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Gifts included a laptop computer for every child, video game systems, books and toys. Families also received essential household items and bed linens. LGC employees hosted the event and humbly served their guests, making it a great afternoon for everyone involved.
“This is something that we enjoy doing for the community, and it really warms my heart to see the smiles on the faces of these children”, said LGC Executive Vice President Thomas Hardiman. He and LGC Chairman Avinash Rachmale are long-time advocates of giving back to the community and make it a core principle in their company. “Giving back is part of what we do. We feel it is our obligation as a Detroit-based company to recognize the needs of the underserved, and to offer help throughout the year”.
